Just Unloaded

I just unloaded these tiles and minis from the kiln. I spent most of the week quietly glazing, and wondering if I now had too many new glaze colors, textures, etc. It definitely too me much, much longer to brush on all the different choices.
But, at the same time I was feeling like I had option overload, I still felt like there were a few holes in my new color palette. I decided to just wait and see if the results were worth the time. And I must say, when I opened the kiln this morning, I was very happy! Here are some of the minis I finished up this week. They've started to remind me more of circus tints with the bright colors, rather than the sea urchins that originally inspired them. But I'm just going to go with it for now.
This is how the tiles will be finished and displayed. The tiles are 2" square, and this Tile Plaque is 4"x 6" and be hung horizontal or vertical. Look for it in my new Etsy Shop soon!
Well, gotta go for now.

Happy Friday!

I love all the bright new colors!
Is overload really a bad thing?

I liked your old minis - but these darker ones are wonderful -- love the contrasts. hard work does pay off !!!

Hi Judy! Thanks for checking in!
I'd love more feedback when you get a chance! What is it about the older or darker minis that make them more appealing to you? A critique would be fantastic! Thank you!

Meagan - the older/paler colors are more organic looking to me - having a sense of being washed in the sea -- ancient.
The newer/darker colors are vibrant - the contrasts are richer - colors deeper with a great tonality.

I like them both - but for very different reasons. Which ones do you like best?

Judy,

Thank you so much for the critique! (It's tough working alone in the studio all day.)

I like them both too. I definitely agree that the older ones are more organic looking. (a feeling I miss a little) And a few of the new ones are a bit too bright for me, though I'm enjoying the strong contrasts. I think living in FL has started in influence my palette, but things might tone down and become a bit more muted again with time. Maybe what I need is to strive for a balance between the 2. We'll see where it takes me.

Looking forward to seeing your new ^6 glazes.

Thanks again!!
